Supervisor's Message to Voters

Monday, October 3, 2022, 4:30 p.m.
Statement from Tommy Doyle, Lee County, Florida Supervisor of Elections

The impact of Hurricane Ian has been felt throughout this great state.  We hope that our voters and residents are staying safe post-storm.

Our deepest and sincerest heartfelt thoughts are with our Lee County residents and neighbors affected by the damage and loss caused by Hurricane Ian.

Following the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, as Lee County prepares for voters to head to the polls on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, we are working closely with state and local officials to assess damage and losses to Early Voting Sites and Election Day polling locations and maintain continuity of operations.

We understand your need to know that you will be able to cast your ballot in the November 8 General Election.

I want to reassure our voters that we strive to ensure voter participation during this challenging time while conducting the upcoming election under Florida Law and the Florida Administrative Code.  Election security is paramount. We want voters to be confident that we are working hard to ensure they can safely, securely, and efficiently cast their ballots in the upcoming election.

We are also working to ensure our dedicated staff, election support workers, and poll workers can carry out their patriotic duties in a safe and sheltered environment while providing Lee County voters with the best possible voting experience, given the challenges ahead.

In the wake of Hurricane Ian, loss of or structural damage to our offices, Early Voting sites, and Election Day polling locations is evident.  We are collaborating with Lee County municipalities and the county government to assess damages and determine where temporary voting sites need to be established in Lee County.  For many voters, their regular polling location will not be available.  We understand and will do our best to provide a safe polling location that is as convenient as possible under current conditions.

We ask for your understanding and support while we assess damages and work toward a successful General Election.

Tommy Doyle, Supervisor of Elections, Lee County
