A Message from Victoria Kress:

Dear Poll Watcher Educational Training Participant,

This educational training will focus on Florida election laws and will be a compliment to any local training in your county.

We want you to feel equipped and as comfortable as possible as a Poll Watcher. This will take some diligence and studying the materials provided on your part.

This information will be provided to you by email when you sign up.

I want to also encourage you to stay connected to your local Republican Executive Committees concerning their Poll Watcher Training. Some Supervisor of Elections will not issue a badge and the REC may not designate you as a Poll Watcher unless you have taken training through the REC so please keep this in mind. If you are in Volusia County, please contact REC representative Tom Coriale at tomkipp@yahoo.com to get on the list for REC training, process and designation.

When you participate in local training in addition to studying this material, please be sure to ask process questions at your county training concerning reporting suspicious activity etc because each county may offer a different response. We will be including materials from the Florida Election Procedure Manual along with the presentation materials concerning questions you may have at a local level training.

You may also provide the training at the local level or share it with leadership for their use, but keep in mind that designation of a poll watcher is a coordinated effort and you should try to work in unison locally to get this done.

Here are a few of the areas that will be covered in the presentation;

There are only a few ways to become a Poll Watcher; through a candidate (or candidate designee*), through the chair (or designee*) of the County Executive Committee of a Party: or the chair (or designee*) Political Committee.

Here is the link with the form that is submitted to all Supervisor of Elections concerning these avenues to be designated as a Poll Watcher. If you can connect to a candidate you support then the candidate can actually submit the form for those who would represent him/her as a Poll Watcher besides just the REC designating you.

There is a great deal to learn about election laws and the the electoral process. Some of us are brand new to the process and we have only learned bits and pieces along the way. We hope that this training will help you put most of the pieces together.

We believe this training will help everyone get the bigger picture of this process and equip you to become more effective with your involvement in the political process. Keep in mind, Florida has just passed new election laws and we will be providing that information to you as it comes available. In the mean time review the below.
